Annotation Blog #13: They Say/I Say Ch.4-7 (4/4/2018)
SUMMARY
Chapter 4: Chapter is more about the I say rather than the They say. We use our thoughts to convey the message as the author. There are three ways to respond as the writer which the three were disagree, agree and disagree and agree simultaneously. Arguments can be used from your point of view or experience and not all about facts. Don't be overly complex to the reader.
QUOTES
"But do be aware that whenever you agree with someone else's view, you are likely disagreeing with someone else's." (63)
The quote basically means there will always be a counter argument to every argument.
"Do be aware that when you represent objections successfully, you still need to be able to answer those objections persuasively." (87)
Same as quote one, use your arguments to persuade the reader.
"Like disagreeing, agreeing is less simple than it may appear." (61)
The writer must find numerous ways to back up their evidence.
Question
How does a writer argue with the agree and disagree aspect of an essay?
