Idea Draft of Essay 1

How do immigrants feel about blending in with American culture rather than holding on their own culture and reviving it with their new community?

Immigrants that move to the U.S usually have to fit into society by putting aside their culture. They believe that American food, clothes and overall culture is far superior than where they came from. They are embarrassed when their relatives from their county and speak their language. The topic relates to sustainability because many immigrants are confused with their identity as an "American" and an immigrant. Their two cultures collides and conflict because of how judgmental people are each cultures.

I personally felt the same way and denied any aspect of my culture. I came from another country and moved to the states when I was younger. As I grew older, I slowly moved away from and tried my hardest to fit in with my American classmates. At the end of they day, people can not deny where they came from. We might adapt to the American values but they will forever be from another culture. They need to learn to embrace and blend the two into their own.

  1. In your idea draft, it explain your topic very great, but your topic is a little bit too broad on the topic because I want to know what kinds of immigrants are you talking about and are you talking about their experience in the American or where they come from.

  2. Dressing like an "American" vs abandoning cultures are two different things. The first one is adapting to new culture. The second one is being embarrassed. Being dressed can help you fit in to the new culture. I think this is a great topic but you need a better example.
