Essay Blog #2 Idea Draft 2/28


1. I chose this photo because Americans are not represented by one single ethnicity and is highly diverse. America is built upon by immigration which this image highly portrays. The image is important to me because I am an immigrant who moved to the states when I was young. I represent one of the immigrants of this photo which highly affects our society today.
2. The image depicts a variety of ethnic groups in the American flag. It shows that we are united as a country not by multiple ethnic groups but through many. The flag highly symbolizes America and the immigrants in the photo shows the impact and effect of immigrants. We are a nation of immigrants and they affect our every day life. The colors show the immigrants in black and white inside the red, white and blue flag.
3. The author created this image because they wanted to depict the melting pot of America. The blogspot shows unity between each ethnic groups. The intermarriage of America transform the country into a nation of diversity. The whole depiction shows America as a country of immigrants.
4. Reading the text, I got an idea that Americans are not just one ethnicity. Other people from another country usually think that America is filled with caucasians. Never do some people realize that immigrants make up a large portion of the country. Ethnic groups that come from Asia, Africa, Europe and all throughout each continents. America does not strive without immigrants.
5. The creator of the image chose his/her audience to to the people who are misinformed about immigrants and other immigrants. The image is to ensure that they are other immigrants out there and that they are not alone. No matter how racist and discriminative the country is at times, immigrants have their backs for each other. No one is unique ethnicity because America will always have a way to have diverse amount of ethnicity.
6. The so what is that people need to realize that America is made up of immigrants. Each day immigrants are taken aback from discrimination and hate from the government and "White Americans". They never understand that the impact that shaped American society it is today. America needs to appreciate more of their immigrants. The message is basically saying to wake up America and help them understand that they are not taking their jobs, causing pain or even causing a disturbance.
7. The visual allows me to appreciate America for its variety. I have friends of different ethnic backgrounds and experience their culture without going to elsewhere. It enabled me to value and treasure my roots and origin.

Idea Draft of Essay 1

How do immigrants feel about blending in with American culture rather than holding on their own culture and reviving it with their new community? Immigrants that move to the U.S usually have to fit into society by putting aside their culture. They believe that American food, clothes and overall culture is far superior than where they came from. They are embarrassed when their relatives from their county and speak their language. The topic relates to sustainability because many immigrants are confused with their identity as an "American" and an immigrant. Their two cultures collides and conflict because of how judgmental people are each cultures. I personally felt the same way and denied any aspect of my culture. How do you change your way of talking in different situations? Talking with friends is more causal and in a comfortable setting. When interviewing, the person must speak in a respectable and show a way that the other person can understand. Also changing your tone enables for the interviewee to clearly understand the questions asked. The person must also slow down, breathe and watch your posture when talking. Being at home also always me to talk more freely and casually.
